A Second Adventure in the Rheinsteig

Another beautiful sunny, warm weekend in Köln so we decided we'd try another hike in the Rheinsteig. Last time our plan was to start in Bad Honnef and then hike north to Königswinter, where we would take a train back to Köln. Of course, with hardly any map (or sense of direction) we never found Königswinter, but instead made a large loop. So this trip we thought we'd try to find this route. Of course I thought we'd remember perfectly how to get from the train station in Bad Honnef to the start of the trail so hadn't bothered to find the directions again. After some winding about, and lots of "I think this looks familiar" we found our way. We began our hike the same as last time, and enjoyed the peacefulness of it all. When we reached Löwensburg (a large landmark mostly because of the large Biergarten) where we had made a wrong turn last time, we carefully studied the map and managed to get on the right trail. Winding back to Königswinter we definitely learned that this is a main entrance to the park; even the signs pointing you to different destinations were legible and made sense. Lots of families with young and old were braving the terrain (many with their walking sticks, which is this crazy German phenomenon I can't quite understand). As we entered the quaint town of Königswinter, we were greeted by many signs pointing us in the direction of the Bahnhof, which we were very happy to see, since I had planned on just feeling my way to the train station. The hike ended with one quick sprint to make the train which had already arrived at the platform, so our exploration of Königswinter will have to wait for another trip.

Kelly, I realize you're a busy gal, but how is it possible that there's not yet a published critical review of Chrissy's beard?

Especially given that Chris' stubble (*ahem* full-on BEARD) has been denied for quite some time. Any time his facial hair is mentioned, he denies it, explaining that he just hasn't shaved in a while.

Me, I'm in favor of said beard, but I don't have to deal with the romantic ramifications of the chin pubes. Kelly? Can we get a comment?

Oh, and add close up pictures if you can swing it. And diagrams! Ooo ooo! Can you swing a before-and-after shot? Could we see a side-by-side?

In my defense, it almost always is a simple matter of not having shaved in four or five days. But yeah, in the last couple weeks my face has indeed undergone a deliberate experiment. What can I say...

I think it's a successful experiment, and frankly there's not a better place to do it. Growing facial hair within reach of the Burkhalter's results in much teasing from adults and pube-yanking from the younger...
